Kevin Belmonte’s New Releases: Miraculous and a Year with GK Chesterton

Readers of Hieropraxis will be interested to know that Kevin Belmonte – who graces Hieropraxis with his delightful “Red Booth Notes” on literary history  – has two new books coming out in short order!

Miraculous: A Fascinating History of Signs, Wonders, and Miracles releases on Oct. 2nd  (in hardcover, Kindle, and audiobook).  In it, Kevin takes a wide-ranging look at the different ways that God has interacted in human history and human lives, from ancient times to the present day, and from cosmically significant miracles to deeply personal ones. Here is the book’s website, and here is a video trailer for Miraculous.

Just a bit later in the month, Oct. 30, another book by Kevin Belmonte will release: A Year with G. K. Chesterton: 365 Days of Wisdom, Wit, and Wonder. I had a chance to read the book in an advance reader’s edition, and I’m delighted with it. With lengthy passages (not the typical short quotes!) from a wide range of Chestertonian writings, this is an excellent book for dipping into, and is likely to whet the reader’s appetite for more. I am glad to see a renewal of interest in GK Chesterton – a great man with a prophetic voice for us today.

“A Year with G.K. Chesterton will be a treasure, both for those who are coming to his wit and wisdom as a fresh discovery, and for those who have known and loved his work for years. . . . Chesterton’s talent for paradox, and his ability to embody profound truth in simple images, makes him as compelling now as he was a hundred years ago. . . . He was a prophet in his own time and a prophet for ours, speaking out against insidious evils and kindling us all again to a common love of the common good.”

—The Reverend Dr. Malcolm Guite, chaplain of Girton College, Cambridge University
